Introduction to Humanities II

I started off today by talking about a few of my own prejudices and the guilt I associate with that - and how my own cultural background led to both my prejudices and my guilt! This ties in with the theory explored this lecture - Modernism. As I understand it, modernism is essentially the evolutionary narrative applied to art. I invited the class to explore from their own experience how art has evolved and we talked about music, sculpture, architecture, computer games and fashion. The quiz question for the day was what language is Karl Jenkins The Armed Man, A Mass for Peace written in? We also listened briefly to his Adiemus where I pointed out that it is written in no language at all.
