Ancient and Medieval Philosophy lecture 21 and 22
This Friday evening we discussed the definition of Religion which led to our focus on historical religions so we could move on to compare Islamic and Jewish philosophers during the Middle Ages and their eventual impact through the Crucades on the Church dogma and philosophy in Europe. There were two videos even though I had battery problems (I found the missing battery stuck to my glove!) I have the videos posted here and here. The first quiz question was Is tragedy in the arts good for us in preparing us for tragedies that we will face? The second quiz question was Do you think Islam is at war with modernity, and is modernity at war with Islam?

1. Tragedy in art, theater, film, and written stories in some cases can prepare a person to respond to a sudden tragedy, However, getting over the initial shock is key by not responding to the fight or flight response and quickly asses the danger or needs to respond in kind to the situation. Such as war, emergencies or the death of a loved one. Though in reality one really do not know haw one will act until a tragedy happens then you see the ones who can handle the stress and the ones who can't for the mean time until PTSD set in often years latter or ass soon as the person is out of the danger field and has time to think about the emotional toll of those experiences. Simply said if its not real it is not going to impact you much, but may help in softening the blow of a real tragic event or not.

Islam as a religion is at war with itself and the western modernism and society. the extremist Islamic Imams are teaching hate yet using radios, social media, and modern inventions all produced by a free republics of the west so they are not at war with stuff they like foreign cars and food just about every thing you can think of the modern free world can produce. Were the problem lies is that when you have a religious state that refuses to evolve with the rest of human kind and give up there dominance in more way's than religious power and control over the masses and culturally as well in giving up bad traditions that belong in the time even before the dark ages of a dog eat dog survival of the fittest attitudes especially when it comes to the treatment of women and rights of women. We have who societies that still blame women for all the evil that a male dominated society does all in the name of Allah. The days of it's "Allah's will" as an excuse for bad immoral behavior are by a male dominated societies hat treat all female humans like objects they own like slaves is over and has had its time. If this does not change even Nature it self will select them out. Such is the path of man and women on this tinny world doomed to die so why make it harder live in peace with one another for we all have the potential to be a great people, but not if we wage war over religion, resources power and greed of the elites whom will not let go of hate in fact they use it and create it to get brainwashed people to carry it out for them wile they sit back a nd reap the rewards and say look what I got that idiot to do for me wile they laugh at you and send you away with out even a glorified pat on the back for the dirty deed you did for them and when you die they will do nothing to help you widow and your children and family they will be begging in the streets and for what "Allah's will"
